Ben also has a passion for prayer and feels called to establish prayer rooms where people can meet
God personally. He has already helped start a prayer room in Northfield, MN. The Northfield Prayer
Room is a small apartment set aside as a space for prayer, worship, and meditation on the Bible. The
vision is to eventually have people signed up to pray there around the clock, seven days a week, to
perpetually worship and seek God on behalf of the city. Another purpose of the prayer room is to help
unite people from different congregations, to view the Christians in the city as one church, the body of
Christ, meeting in different congregations as they work together to reach the city for Jesus. (If you’re

When I called him, I didn’t know anything about him, but we’ve already discovered a number of
unusual connections. Not only are we both Christians, but I want to visit Turkey, where he grew up.
I also didn’t know this at the time, but Ben had been praying that God would provide a source of
income for him, and had run out of promising options about when I called. We’re still not sure what
will come of these connections, but one thing is sure: God is real, strong, and creative, and loves to go
far beyond our expectations!

numerous positive leads but for some reason I decided to call
back the very last one for an interview.
During the interview, I asked a few standard questions about his
English and language skills. In the course of the interview, he
told me his second language was Turkish. In Africa, I had written
down three countries I would like to visit, Cuba, Russia, and
Turkey. My interest was piqued, and we started working together
within days.
